Thank you for your kind words. Barry
Hi im kc2vso quick question i want 2 do the same thing with the ft-897d i
use it more in the base so i have the ac kit for it…when i take it
portable do i have to take of the kit all the time or can i just disconnect
the cord and use the portable battery like yours??
Ben, I think it is a great QRP radio. If you like operating at the 5 watts
level, this rig will work great. The price is right. Don’t forget, the
antenna is the most important part of the station. Barry
Carl, The more radials you put down the better the ERP. I find that with
the two radials on this little whip, if I can hear a signal I stand a good
chance of working them. If I see an S3 or better reading on the S meter, I
have a great chance of working that station.
What a nice clean and easy to set up portable set up Barry. Looks like a
great way to go for a quick set up anywhere.
@surefirefan The battery is hanging on the righ hand side of the rig.
That’s what that green thing is on the right hand side. It’s a 10.8 volt at
4.2 amp sub C cell battery pack.
good presentation, and good setup…
cool would you recomend this radio i am working on upgrading my license to
general 73, Ben
WHERE IS #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its a great radio but starting out you should get a 100w radio after you
are good in wanna try 5 watts just put the radio on low power in if you
don’t like it go back to 100 watts its better to not be bound by 5 watts
because a 100 watts can become 5 watts in go back to 100watts 73, dan
Hey, do you have a schematic for your antenna??? I’d like to try building
one myself.
im getting the radio soon my mistake with the ac kit but also going to get
external battery like yours maybe slite diff..
