Well done Mr Garth. This should be a nice tool for information as your video showed just about all that is needed to be seen and known about these two wonderful transceivers. Keep up the good work fellow. I’m looking for more videos. Thanks for sharing.

You will really enjoy the 7600 it’s is a fantastic Receiver with a Swiss Army knife worth of tools to help tune in weak stations and customize the Radio. My best advice is buy an external speaker and the unit will be all that much better.

Thanks Mr. Williams, for the nice comments. I look forward to the day when you send me your Amp with a nice Red Ribbon on the Box.. Yes please pad the Amp with a nice thick Winter Jacket. Hell may be frozen over 🙂

@Mr6Y1X – only one thing!! You either failed to mention or didn’t realize that in the menu there is an adjustment for audio recieve bass & treble setting. That lack of full body sound in your review can be adjusted. Deffinitely the ProIII on top of the 7600 will effect quality the sound is being covered by the ProIII. No doubt! All in all still a good vid. 73!

N2RRAny — I just failed to mention it because there are just so many options on this Rig that I had to limit what I could cover on the videos. One of the first things I do with a new Radio is adjust all the settings to what I consider Optimal “for me”. The 7600 had Bass and treble already set for the fullest sound without it getting too muddy.

As someone else said you should have used the receiver audio equalizer…you can make the audio sound better than a PRO3 which has a fixed quantity. I don’t use those little speakers in the radio; I buy a good quality external speaker. I have the Icom external speaker but stopped using it because it’s too high-pitched. Thanks for the video review by the way; you can readily see that the 7600 is a better radio in all respects. I had a PRO3 and glad I got rid of it.

I Did use the Audio Equalizer, the Bass was set at about 3 and the Treble at 2. That gave the best sound from the 7600. I just did not show that because Youtube limits videos on basic accounts to 12 minutes each so I just could not cover about 50% of the tweaks I made before doing the video. I OPTIMISED all settings that could not be tweaked during filming before filming.

I had the PRO3 and 7600 side by side for a few months, and I can assure you the audio had more body on the 7600 with a good quality external speaker on both radios.

That may be so but I was just Reviewing the Radios out of the Box. I found the 7600 speaker to be so poor that I also bought (well made) an external speaker. So I think we both agree that the internal speaker is poor.

evrerythin is ok but one…did u really turned on,not 1 but 2 preamp on 40 meter band wit already s5 noise?don’t be offended but are you crazy my friend?!;)I don’t think u really want to pull up so much noise and there is no reason for…u have to put on some attenuation instead!remember, if you hear noise connecting external antenna u have enough sensitivity and no reason to preamp, or u’ll have only worst performance,is written on some manual as well!

I really think you need to watch the Video right through till the end. There is a huge difference in the 7600 when it comes to dealing with close in stations (QRM) and also when dealing with weak stations. The only thing the ProIII does better in Rx is that it has a better internal speaker and therefore sounds more full bodied with the stock speaker

I have never never never seen a radio who can receive something that another can’t. I think your PRO3 has serious problems and should be checked by a good technician !!!!!

Your kidding right! The test you are seeing is in a High QRM environment and what you are seeing is the receiver front end being swamped by the stronger adjacent signal. This is one of the most common events in Ham Radio and you say you have never seen it! Thats why high end receivers have roofing filters and IF DSP along with other things to help prevent the receiver from being overloaded by adjacent signals.
