@u3of52 Yes, with a repeater at least 40 air miles away and with the antenna only 6 feet above the ground. There are 6 videos and testing the antenna is in part 6.

I do apologize for the poor audio quality. This was my first try at making a video and this set of six videos was filmed with an older VHS camcorder. I have now replaced the old camcorder with a new digital model and the A/V quality in my latest videos is much improved. Thanks and 73! 🙂
What gauge wire did you use? Sorry for my elementary question, I am new ham.

@JustWickedSwede Ditto. Hams can tolerate SSB slopbucket, yet complain about audio on a youtube video? Ridiculous. Zed has a bunch of really great videos for us aspiring antenna builders. Watching his detailed and non-jargonny explanations really gives me confidence to break out the tools and make some antennas!
I built a 4-ele 2m quad way back decades ago, and the thing was way TOO directional. I had it mounted on a TV rotor and three degrees of adjustment mean the difference between a full quieting signal and one that couldn’t be heard at all. I took it down, chopped it in half, and made two, 2-ele quads. That worked much better!

@andrewwirenut Sorry no. This antenna is for the 2 meter amateur radio band (144-148 MHz). A cubical quad antenna for the CB (27 MHz) would be a much larger antenna and would be constructed differently. I will be doing a video on CB antennas soon. 73

Quads on Two meters are really amazing. Thanks for another great video on Ham Radio… But you have to keep the weight down and Ice loading. A little lighter version of the TWO Meter Quad with plans that can be down loaded in PDF are on Hamuniverse under WX9DX Quad posted in 2007.
