This is my review of the BC125AT. The Uniden BC125AT is a great airband scanner. This radio police scanner is one of the best low end scanners available. Che…

This is a video of a mid 1970’s CB radio being tested during lift conditions.
gotta love the yanks mate…there AM is sooooo cool…great vid my friend… 🙂
We have both been using CB radio for 30+ years now and that “buzz” is still there!
we sure have and still going strong…yay… 🙂
Yes. You can turn it off.
And the scanner still functions with it off, correct? Or do you have to turn off the entire unit
Yes, it still works with the light off. Tap the power button to turn the light on. Tap it to turn it off. You can also press the function button then the power/light button and it brings up a menu. Turn light always on, always off, on with squelch, on with key press, or on with key press + squelch.
Thank you so much! Very helpful.
my scan mode is locked out how to get the scan mode out of unlock
Nice review. I’ve got one coming to be via FEDEX.
Can you run this unit with an AC adapter, instead of going through batteries as I want to use it as a home base also?
Very Very nice review thanks mate, this has made me consider getting one of these scanners
I’m assuming that most Police and Fire agencies are “trunked” these days. Fair assumption? I need to find a Scanner that scans trunking groups, and also is capable of Scanning Digital (encoded?) transmissions. Any such radio out there? If it was pre-programmed, so that all you had to do was type in an area code and it knows where to Scan, would be a plus!! Suggestions?
No scanner can legally receive encrypted transmissions. However there are several that will receive digital transmissions. The PSR-800 and the Uniden Home Patrol scanners will both receive digital transmissions and allow you to select your area for automatic programming (so you don’t have to program the scanner.)
No you can’t.
Just got one of these and its really fun noob scanner. I have a question, at 1:09, when you hit the volume and the number 2.54 comes up on the upper right hand side of the display… what does that number mean?
That shows the battery voltage. The higher the number the more battery charge that is left. The lower, the less charge that is left. It doesn’t go to 0. I think around 2.48 the low battery alarm will begin to sound.
Try turning your squelch knob till the noise stops then it should begin to scan…
Yes you can. Do a search ( BC125AT specs ) and check under Power Requirements. Plug included USB cable into computer or buy a universal ac adapter with USB input (UNIVERSAL-USB-AC-POWER). Simple, Enjoy, this is a great scanner!
actually yes you can, you need to by the adapter from usb to ac located at scannerworld , once there look on the left, find acceseries, find ac adapters, click that, its the 2nd to last listing.
Great job reviewing it, thanks!
I enjoyed you video. I just got one of these. It came with 2300 nimh batteries. I have charged them in the scanner off and on totalling over 24 hours and it still shows charging, and not charge complete. The scanner is off by the way. How long does it take to get a full charge? Thanks.
Thanks for the great video. I picked one up yesterday after i watched the video… I LOVE IT,,,
Bought this scanner. Been messing with it for over an hour. Is there sites online that tell the Freqs that I can input on the computer up load them up.? Step by step guide anything?
what was that antenna you use?
I believe that was the stock antenna. However, I am currently using the Diamond RH77CA. It is an excellent VHF and Airband antenna. I picked it up from Universal-Radio for about $20.
Just bought one on ebay for $116 shipped. I used to work at ZME ARTCC (Memphis Air Route Traffic Control Center) and recognized the sector names coming up on the screen. Did you have to input the info tags associated with the frequencies? I noticed they are pretty detailed. For instance ZME44 PBF-H (ZME=Memphis Center, 44=Sector Number, PBF=Pine Bluff, H=High Sector).
Very thorough review. Covers all the basics of scanner. Really one of the better reviews I have seen in a long time for scanners and ham radio equipment. Thanks.
