Part 1of 2 I took this video showing the antenna in action and how directional it is. (Which is what you need to concentrate the radios power in one direction). In the video it shows me in my back yard transmitting 5w (146.835mhz) to a repeater that is located about 40 miles away at 6300′ elevation. I am located at about 1400′ elevation and there are hills directly between the repeater and me, so with a rubber duck I would not have been able to make contact.
