Sometimes people ask me how to use aprs.fi with D-Star. This might not be exactly what they were asking for, but here is a video displaying the new beta version of aprs.fi running over D-Star on 1298.125 MHz (128 Kbit/s DD mode, Icom ID-1). Works like a charm!

Quite naturally I am using IP addresses from the amateur radio AMPRnet range (44.x.y.z) for the radio link. The web site is loaded over the 1.2 GHz radio link, both ends use Icom ID-1 radios which act as an Ethernet bridge. The laptop is directly connected to the ID-1 using the shown Ethernet plug (and wifi is disabled, of course).

This video was shot at the OH2K club station in Kauniainen (www.krk.fi), sound track courtesy of OH2GEK working HF a few feet to the right.
