The pieces with shrink wrap are chokes to enable it to work on 70 cm.
The short pieces of coax is the traps for the 70cm band. The antenna is a
Slim Jim, not a J pole.
that splice is the 70cm radiating element of the dual band
Thanks for all the feedback guys. I was also corrected in that it is not a
j-pole but in fact a slim jim type. Sorry about the confusion, and have
corrected that in my title.
