You can see on this video my new created device after four years work in designing several remote control systems to tune the variable capacitor of a Small Magnetic Loop Antenna. The antenna can be carried on my back, with a light and simple Back Support described on my web page, or I can temporarily fix the antenna on a balcony or window adjusting the antenna”s resonating frequency from a distant place.

This is both part 1 & 2 of explaining how I constructed my Ham Radio “To Go” box en ligne casino france so KEEP WATCHING AFTER it says THE END. For Portable use both in house and if needed emergency, field day, etc. I plan to use the anderson strip to power my Elecraft KX3 when it arrives to! Will attached KX3 with a bit of velcro or once I get KX3 will see if another way. I have room over my 857 or will change 2 meter mobile to a smaller one(I have a FT-1500 which is smaller)

Good Point. Because I live in HOA I am restricted but use an End Fed 53 ft long that goes into the family room. I use a diamond through the window coax connector which allows the window to be shut on it! This way I have an antenna on the main level of the house. Upstairs where my stationary station is I use an end fed also however it is 98 ft long. I used to have a vertical but took it down when I replaced the roof. I have a small ground plane for 2 meters and 440mhz.

Hi Steve. Awesome job on the go box. I joined our local ARES group here in Peoria Illinois and I have been looking for ideas for a go box. I really like your idea and the portablility of your station. It is obvious that you put a lot of time and research in building it. Thank you for sharing it with us and I am going to try to build one too. 73 Tom Kc9qvv

I like your go-box and video. Thanks for doing it. I am interested in building something similar with an FT-857D. However, I am looking for a metal box (aluminum) to act as an EMP proof grab and go. Any ideas?

You may see if a larger military ammo box will work. They have some pretty large ones and they are water tight also with the lid on. I see them often at local gun shows. Depending on what state you are in, I would think you can find gun shows. Here in GA we have them almost every month. In our area, every 3 months and then giant ones 2x a year.

I have a container that would probably be large enough so they are around, just not as often as the smaller ones. Even in the large one, you might not be able to fit quite as much however I would think something could be worked out. If you decided to go the route of the Gator box like I have you could always store it in a metal garbage can. (like the old style) I think they still sell them and a smaller Gator box would fit in there. The metal can should shield everything in the box!

Short ground stakes are ok if you have a number of them strung out. Of course the type of soil makes a difference as well. Good video, thanks.

Case was just under $200 and shelves are Raxess shelves which are less than Gator(and I think better) for $19.99 each. The drawer was about $80 and the top power strip/protector with built in lights was right at $100.
    Hope that helps.

I recently just put together my Go Box, i bought the same shelves you did. My question is, when mounting the shelves themselves, were you able to screw install all 4 screws or just 2 screws. I’m having problems trying to install the other screws.

I experienced the same thing. I am not sure why because the rack is suppose to be standard width, etc. I was able to get all 4 in however it was not easy & I do think on 1 screw per shelf it seemed to strip it. It gets to a point & just turn s& turns. I wonder if the “Gator” shelves fit better. Where did you purchase your shelves? I may ask the seller about the problem and see what they know. At leaset there is no real problem except I would like the shelf to be a bit more steardy.

I bought them from Sweetwater, i have noticed after I sent the message that the holes on the rails are NOT evenly spaced and if you look closely, there are hash marks on the rails. If you line up the shelves with the hadh marks, you can get all 4 screws in.

My 8U Gator Case is on its way.

One more thought. Do you have room to put some sort of ground plane in the top, bottom, or both lids. That way you could just slap a mag mount antenna on it and you could be up and running on 2-meters, 440, 220 whatever. If I can get away with it I’ll be putting a plate on both lids that way I can have my 220 on one side and 2-m and 70cm on the other side. Hope the idea works.

    Great looking box!

If you need the list of my equipment/parts, let me know. I have seen others who have put metal in the lids for magnetic mount antennas. From all I have read, they work ok, not great because it is a very small ground plane. But good idea! I still have room in my box & plan to clean up the back wires w/ some plates and connectors, etc. But it works great. I have worked the world with 100 watts, the tuner and a 53 ft long end fed wire! I will do a video on the antenna in the next couple of days.

Thanks for the reply. I’m adding a 2U or 3U drawer as well and plan on acquiring a FT-8900 soon to round out the radio end of things. Will also add another Alinco DM-330MVT to ease the DC power distribution a bit. Looking into Furman Power Conditioner but haven’t settled on one just yet. Plan on replacing my old Radio Shack speakers (which have done a good job for years) with Midland or Yaesu speakers as well. New coax and antennas — I’ll be in tall cotton on this end.

Hello Alex, This is a very interesting devise. Can you expand on the motor control, is it homemade or a ready made product and how is the control connected to the motor? Thanks in advance. Dave K2ZU

I would also like to see the schematics, parts list and more detail how to make this remote control tuner. It is a servo I see and some kind of RF transmitter to control the servo like a RC model, but what parts did you use and any details to duplicate would be nice. Thanks I need something just like this.
