Polar Bear Moonlight Madness a HF/QRP Event was the first opportunity I’ve had to use my Yaesu VX8-R with it’s APRS capability to spot myself and receive messages. APRS is some pretty old (late 80s) technology but it’s use still has some pretty current and interesting applications. Once again the Buddipole Versatee Vertical and Icom 703 were the gear de jour for my mountain top adventure!

Heh Rooster & Peanut, enjoyed watching you on Goatvision. Perhaps they should rename this GoatTube? Glad to see you got your Dad ion APRS with that fancy new Yaesu. Bet he spent a lot of hay on that thing. I’m on DGPS via DSTAR which is sort of like APRS – without the goats but the humans are still there.

Good show, Steve. Yep the CA QSO party was rough here too – 30m was the place to be and was glad your Buddipole vertical was QRV on 30.

Another great video. Enjoy each one of ’em. If there is ever a type of “Emmy” award for ham radio videos– they would be winners. Of course, you would get a nominee, since Rooster and Peanut would get the Emmy. hihi. 73 from ALABAMA.
