Hi Dave – You can find plans for 450 ohm ladder line antenna’s in the ARRL
hand book and on line. Also MFJ company makes many of them already
assembled. About the concrete wall – this is a physical problem of the hole
in the wall. I don’t think you would lose much just running the ladder line
thought wall if that is possible – your idea should work also- The end fed
zepp should work as well – you may want to make it longer if you have the
room. Dave KK4WW Computer Collector Historian

Thanks Dave, I was wondering if you could discuss antennas for the
transmatch, I have a viking by Johnson and the swr coupler. I have had this
for years but never used it as I don’t know how to build a balanced twin
line and run it through my concrete wall. I suppose I could build two 4:1
balun’s one on each side of the wall and connect the balun’s to a short run
of coax then use the unbalanced twin lead up my tower to make a end fed
zepp for 1/4 wave on the lowest freq. I like QRP CW , AE4J
Great job and great video. Thanks. 73’s
Awesome antenna setup; thanks for posting. Bob, VE9EE
I’m way beyond envious with the height your antenna is at. I’ve got a G5RV
up as of yesterday but its only about 5′ off the ground. Lotsa work to do.
I also need to put a balun together. Right now I go through 30′ of wound up
coax then into my funcube dongle. It’s amazing what i can pull in even with
my poor setup tho! Love this type of antenna.
First HF QSO!!!! Thanks to VE7DO (Blake) who runs a net with the local
NORAC club members on Sunday mornings on 20m (14.153). Blake winters in
Mazatlan Mexico and chats on Sunday mornings with the local ham’s back home
here in the North Okanagan. Conditions this morning weren’t great. but we
were able to hear each other and exchange some words.
I installed my first antenna (G5RV) yesterday.
