Glad you took the advise to use the display of the dutch ham, its contrast is a bit less than the original but judging by your vid it is high enough to see everything you want, I saved the vid in case I ever have to replace mine 😉

    Hi Mark
Yes the contrast is not quite the same but they a good replacement non the less. I actually bought the screen a couple of weeks ago, I was leaving it to be a surprise in the part 2 video. I am really happy with radio and I am thinking of keeping it.. Best Regards John

it is a great rig and even has a seperate plug for a receiving antenna so you can use that for converter use, I have a converter for the 2 meter band and it works great that way, there is also a program to control the 756 with the computer but I did not use that yet, in my opinion it’s a keeper.

Excellent video as always, John. Keep them coming! After seeing how easy it is, I’m keeping my eyes open for a 756 with the screen problem for sale on the cheap. 73!

I watched both parts of this epic adventure and really enjoyed watching you troubleshoot and repair the IC-756. The camera work and commentary were first rate! Great job and congrats on getting the rig up and running at 100%. Hopefully, the bands will behave so you can enjoy the rig! 73, Rob W1AEX

Just watched both parts. Really educational and interesting. It makes a nice change to watch and learn from someone that knows what they are doing! Have you thought about making electronics educational vids form basic to more advanced?

Loved both the video’s; thanks for taking the time. I have an original 756 with no issues (touch wood!). I have two questions, where did you get those great gloves and do you know if there is a US equivalent of the Servisol cleaner? Thanks again for your hard work and information.

Hi, Clean the elastomer rubber contacts and the gold plated contacts with a touch of acetone and I think it will work ok. That has been my experience in the past. Regards, MIKe.
