    do mobile or base ariels have to be tuned in?? iv just bought a harrier cbx rig and i have to turn the squelch down to hear people an when i transmit, no 1 can hear me.

    Hi, all ariels have to be checked for the correct swr, the lower the reading, the better.
    the rule of thumb with radio, cb especially is the ariel should be as high as possable, and as big as possable, (1/2 wave ideally) you do not say what ariel you have, where you are using it etc….
    the days of a mag mount on a buiscuit tin are long gone!

    im currently looking for a bigger ariel. what would you rate that rig??

    you wont get far with that! in the old days when ther was a cb`er on every sreet, maybe!,
    i dont know what restrictions you have where you live, but i reccommend an ANTRON 99 antenna, as high as you can get it! (safely of course)
