@VP8DOF – BTW! Start with comp. at level 1 just too drive the mic and get
full output in case you can’t drive the mic with out compression. Most
times if you find a mic that still drives the radio to full output with out
compression then the rig could sound much better with out compression on.
You always have to test comp. and mic levels with any mic with all radios
to get best sound. Everybody is different because of frequency response in
    owns voice. 73!

I’ll try my best too but my time to make vids is eaten up by other
obligations. It’s really not difficult to figure out. Hell of a lot easier
than any Yeasu radio I tell you that much. If you have a problem just
message me and I’ll help you out. 73!

getting this radio next week. any possibly of your posting an instructional
video on programming repeaters? this will be my 1st major task. also, how
to scan the repeaters once programmed into memory. thanks. love your other
    instructional videos on this radio.

Yes, it will scan. Even better it can be set with 4 different categories of
program so you can mix or not. It just has more options to set in memory
bands, or frequencies how ever you like in many combinations.

@VP8DOF – AWESOME! The Heil ICM, and Gold Line Pro sounds best directly
into the IC-7000. You will find though with most studio mic’s on any radio
requires some sort of EQ’ing to really make the most of it. Bottom Line!
Yes, some rigs sound good with studio mic’s, but 75% need an EQ. I would go
with W2IHY EQ’s! At least the 8 band to start. Don’t hesitate to ask me any
    question at all. I’ve tried a out 10 mic’s with IC7K w/wo EQ’s. 73!

🙂 Thanks! I’ve owned four of these ICOM 7000’s and never had an issue with
them. Still currently owning two of them and love it. Just have to know how
to use all the features and learn how to fly through the menu like I do now
and man….what a transceiver! Thanks for watching!

Thats awesome and your welcome! Try also shutting off compression (Comp)
and turning mic gain hight enough to get full output and fill the ALC all
with green constant. You may find this to work even better in some case’s.
You just have to tinker with it and get reports, but the TBW setting will
always be the best setting for superior results. Enjoy!

Jim, the TS-430S is marginal for AM due to its narrow audio, as you pointed
out. I have better AM listening results using a sideband and tweaking the
IF shift to emphasize higher audio frequencies (treble). Old tube boat
anchors are much better for shortwave listening, as you’ve demonstrated in
other videos. BTW, the 1Mhz rocker switch and the STEP button can speed up
frequency excursions in the absence of direct entry keypad.
