ARISSat Amateur Radio on International Space Station- Amateur Radio
www.amsat.org http & www.littlefamilyfarm.com 1-540-808-2880 -floydlcfgroup@gmail – PO box 179 Floyd,Virginia 24091————-Arissat 1, is currently in development. This satellite will contain experiments built by students and other equipment. Unlike SuitSat-1, the batteries on Arissat-1 will be charged by solar panels, and is predicted to have a lifetime up to six months. Originally planned to launch in October 2007, the project has been delayed to a later date.———Gould Smith, WA4SXM writing on behalf of the ARISSAT-1 team said construction of the flight unit begins in early February when Tony Monteiro, AA2TX begins electronic assembly of the first US flight unit for ARISSat. The ARISSAT-1 team has had prototypes working for months. The enclosures have been painted by NASA and the cables prepared by Larry Brown, W7LB. The flight boards were built by the Microchip ARISSat team and Chuck Green, N0ADI, with Chuck checking all the flight units. Lou McFadin, W5DID has nearly assembled a complete flight structure (see photo above) designed by Bob Davis, KF4KSS. Lou expects to exhibit the structure in the AMSAT Booth at the upcoming Orlando HamCation. The first two flight TX receiver modules from Bill Ress, N6GHZ are due to arrive in February. We just found out that ARISSat will receive a new callsign and some additional Russian greetings will be added. We will have more than 25 international greetings from around the world in twelve languages broadcast on the FM …

Designed primarily to work in distributed systems controlled by a SNAP PAC S-series controller, the SNAP-PAC-SB1 provides local intelligence that frees the controller for supervisory tasks. As an I/O processor, the SNAP PAC brain independently handles functions such as latching, counting, thermocouple linearization, watchdog timers, and PID loop control. These functions continue to work on the brain even if c

Yuri Gagarin Amateur Radio Commemorative QSL

Amateur Radio QSL from the USSR.
In the old Soviet Union days, Radio Amateurs were give or purchased rather patriotic QSL cards to use that would be distributed worldwide. The Soviet radio amateur would get a stamp with his/her call and other info such as Oblast, name, etc post it on the card. I have a bunch of these pre-fab QSLs from contacts I made when I was a kid that I will post from the late 70s and 80s.

QSO Absorption Lines: Proceedings of the ESO Workshop Held at Garching, Germany, 21 – 24 November 1994 (ESO Astrophysics Symposia)
These proceedings contain the papers presented at the ESO workshop on “QSO Absorption Lines”. The papers summarize the current state of understanding and review the new observations, especially from HST and Keck, as well as the theoretical insights. The different sections address the following topics: damped Lyman-alpha systems, abundances, absorption lines from gas in our Galaxy, metal-rich systems at low and intermediate redshifts, BAL QSOs and quasar environment, Lyman-alpha systems at low an

Alpha Delta DX-LB Plus Antenna

The recent ice storm broke the HF antenna and today January 12, 2008 Larry, KD5MAF and myself reinstalled it.
As soon as we installed it, we turned on the HF radio and made contacts with South Carolina, St. Louis, Tacoma, California, Cuba, among others. I think the antenna is working perfectly. I received some good reports on the signal from many. I am very pleased that it tunes up great on 10, 12, 15, 17, 20, 40, 80 meter bands with ease. The top of the HF antenna where the pole comes off the left is 50 feet above the ground.
