1/4 wave 88-108 FM antenna
Made this in a few hours, and it is FAR superior to any of the antennas used in the past. Put against GP, HLLY, and Commet 5/8 wave, and has lower swr’s across the whole band. The other one is for 2 meter. It is also homebrew. It works better than all the others I used. (It’s modified too)

I decided to resurrect my vintage Avanti Sigma 5/8 Wave CB antenna which was stored in various places around the house. After cleaning the loading coil and connections I installed it temporarily on the fence for testing. SWRs are flat on channel 0 (26.955mhz one 10kc channel) below regular channel 1. SWR readings on channel 40 are 1.7 :1

By Sterling Coffey, N0SSC

Today was an interesting milestone in the progress of the year. Almost every fall after a biting cold front the air heats up again and Japanese beetles — commonly mistaken as ladybugs — take refuge on sunlit surface, resting after a long migratory flight. They fly around looking for places to hide before the winter freeze sets in.
