The antenna comes with radials from ICOM ,but not sure what length they were. I made my own figuring the wave length for that vertical at 40 meters.

All I do to help tune to each band is roll each counterpoise shorter the width of three fingers. The 20 meter length works for 15m as well and I roll it a little more for 10m. 40 meters the wires are extended full length. I’m gonna experiment with more radials in my next vid to see if it makes a difference. I’m sure it will!

@Mark Voskuilen – SWR’s vary on a couple bands but for the most part you will get full output and exceptional SWR curves. You will have 1:1 to 1:7 on 20, 10 and 6 meters on entire band. On 40m 1:1 to 2:1 from 7.025. to 7.155 then need a tuner. On 15m being such a huge band same on some portion but need a tuner for rest. I’m gonna do a video soon on SWR performance. 73!

Nice performer. I’d be concerned about putting that much stress on the body-mounted BNC connector. I think I’d use the rear SO-239 port. But that said, looks like a good antenna for QRP portable! 73 de K3CXG

Glad you liked it, but check out the other videos I’ve made with the ICOM AH-703 mounted on a mast on my video titled…. AH-703 3ft. Vertical QRP smoking H.F. Bands!

This antenna as surprised the HELL out of me. 73!

Neat trick with the quick disconnect counterpoise! I am going to have to steal your idea! I also wouldn’t have thought to use 2 counterpoise wires. I will have to try that too 😀
