obilea,,,, something something something. Do people actually straight up read this straight through because I had to start over 10 times just to get that far.
wtf this was realy fast i m an 19 year women and i m trying to learn this in my spare time!!! is realy awsom i m gonna have to practice this realy hard!!!
@powertube5671 good idea with the four and five letter words powertube, think i’ll borrow that. In Australia we no longer have morse as a part of our licensing, but nearly all still like to have a go!
Curious as to how you found my video on You Tube and what enlightens you to seek learning it? just curious as my daughter is also licensed for amateur radio.
@BubbaBouy well!! i ve been thinking about learning morse code since i was i n hight scholl for cheeting in the exams…but now i m just want to learn because nobody knows how to use it!!! (im from costa rica by the way) so here i am,i visited a few videos about morse code alphabet and then i saw this one that looks realy advanced!!! and i thouht…i m way to far to learn this army style haha
Do you have a shortwave receiver ? That would be a great way to learn the morse code directly from the amateur radio bands. The speeds vary from 5 to 40 words a minute and it is good to become familiar to how people send. Almost like a separate finger print for each operator. A lot of words are also abbreviated. There are several web sites that have free Morse code tests as well as random character generation. Check my other “welcome to me on mytube”. That is fairly fast.
I got here after following a few vids about the Titanic. Reminds me when I was a kid buying radio stuff from a war surplus shop. I still have the first morse key I bought for a shilling. Just wish I kept the radio set that I beleive was the same as that in the Lancaster bomber. Even had 2 spare sets of valves for it.
Bedroom like a junkshop …. I reckon the more serious and licensed hams (and my mum) had a party to celebrate the day I turned my attentions to girls LOL.
@tpsossff It will be interesting as to how this will most likely stay with you as a hobby in your later life. I have enjoyed it for 46 years as well as an EE in the Aerospace industry. Keep those old VALVES, it’s great to see them glow in the dark and keep the shack wark in the winter months.
@BubbaBouy
When I bought the set in 1967 it was still in the original shipping boxes as were the sets of spares. But they did find their way to a fitting end …. in the hands of an old boy who appreciated what they were and, after he retired, used to hold workshops for youngsters who wanted to learn more about the subject.
This will make you reach ………. when I bought that stuff it cost me the princely sum of £18, that is about $30. I wonder how much that stuff would fetch now.
Im trying to find out what the message says, but its hard (im learning for myself sice yesterday!). So far i can read Morse, but its hard to hear. Can u write the message? In that way it would help me to learn to hear Morse. Thanks¡¡¡
“to bile ant on ta iion tripodesse” is the true message but he is abbreviating and is talking about using a mobile antenna mounted on a tripod at home.
it really says:
MOBILE ANT ON AN IION TRIPOD •••••••(WHICH MEANS ERROR CORRECTION TO FOLLOW).(WHICH I BELIEVE WAS THE START OF AN R .-. TO CORRECT IION TO IRON)
Thanks for posting this video it’s great! It reminds me of when I was learning CW for my licence exams 30+ years ago. My friend (VK4AFM) and I had access to a HF receiver and a two-speed reel-to-reel tape deck – we’d tape the coast radio stations transmitting weather reports, traffic lists, etc, and play it back slow so we could read it. 🙂 I still use CW.
Best way to learn it was the instructor at Ft. Devens, MA in 1972 “Class – di dah alpha” and the class repeated it as we hit the “a” key on the keyboard til we got proficient up to 18 gpm. At 30 gpm we were lowly gs5 civilians at an embassy after the army. It sticks with you and you can still copy it almost 40 years later. Lots of 05H people with outdated skills now.
Get out your Webster’s dictionary and look up the phrase “American Patriot” and you’ll see a picture of Jeremiah Denton.
Then look up the phrase “gutless coward” and you’ll see pictures of Bill Clinton and Muhammad Ali.
@BadDawg5978 troll on. We are all super impressed by whoever fox news deems a patriot, and would not think of listening the lies from the left which say anything other than what fox news says. we especially don’t believe the stats that fox news viewers are actually less informed than people who view no news at all. Go team!
@theflidgeface A bit delayed making that reply, aren’t you? Yes, he himself would be doing the AMA – by proxy, through his son’s friend. He would be receiving the questions, and answering them; he simply isn’t the one at the keyboard. You slack-jawed, mouth-breathing, bottom-feeding imbecile. (Had to add that to fit in.)
@windsofsolaris The only proof that he has ordered the killing of anyone is his killing of American citizens under NDAA, a war crime. Bush is no better. No body, no death. Where’s the proof? Bin Laden was either dead for years already or is still alive. Another thing. Bin Laden had nothing to do with 9/11. You really need to wake up to the facts. You are blinded by the bought lame stream media and you believe whatever our government tells you. A big mistake and ignorant to boot.

@flyboy5842 the conversation is in part and abbreviated describing a mobile antenna that is mounted on a tripod .
