Of course, it goes without saying that this isnt the best method to do mobile HF without permanently securing the radio. The radio is being held in place by rubber grip pad. However, since I do much traveling in rental vehicles, this is the risk I take to enjoy mobile HF. But am mindful of the laws of inertia if I slam the breaks! Thank you Mr. Newton.

Good video. I just bought an IC703+ myself to semi permanently install in my Jeep TJ with a MFJ-1624 antenna. I’m hoping to finish it getting it installed today. I will try and make a video of my own installation once it’s set up and working. So far I think the IC-703+ is a fantastic rig and I plan to experiment with it using portable homebrew dipole antennas on backpacking trips. This radio is easy to run off of a small solar panel.
Thanks for your comment. You know folks ask me all the time, which is the better radio, the 703 or the Yaesu 817. I tell them they are really two unique radios, one isn’t better than the other. BUT, if you forced me to decide the one I would give up, it would be the 817… and honestly, I prefer Yaesu over Icom, but the 703+ is a jewel.
