I have a picture of mine somewhere. I was working a repeater 62 miles away
in Burnet, TX from Kyle, TX…internal temp got up to 165ºF.
Im not sure where exactly mine was made I am pretty sure it was made in
Japan though. I really like the built in WX feature on these radios.. I
have heard alerts from North Mississippi and central Tennessee before
storms even got close to my area. Another thing to note is that these are
really easy to program. Very good starter rig for someone moving up into
ham radio.
i normally run about 10 watts on mine, for some odd reason it was left on
full power lol
These are good radios. Acquired one myself a few weeks ago. Taking it on
vacation with me next week on the trip to Indiana. Has a very nice feature
of scanning for repeaters while on the road.
Y’all talk to Walmart alot down there? :42 channel 34. I don’t think the
unions will them up north.
Great radio, I have one as my base station at the moment, but it will
eventually go in my FJ60. Just FYI, you should use the minimum wattage
necessary to make your contacts. 75W is a quite high for hitting local
repeaters and/or simplex!
