Did you ever figure out if your counter is off or if it was just everyone else?
I typically use WWV for on air freq reference as opposed to everyone else’s station since there are LOTS of misaligned radios on the air.
I dont think my counter is off now that i have aligned a few radios with it. i did compare it with an old nixi couter i had and got the same result. i come to realize that the radios are right on with wwv. i think that there is a difference in the “standard” calibration of the tcxo frequency, and the zero beat of wwv. not entirely sure yet,
I’m still in the beginner stages of soldering and working electronics, thanks for posting such a clear video of a repair! That said, did you forget to use flux on the tcxo? I watched the first two videos and you used it lots but I didn’t see you use it for this last part. Would it have made a difference? The ground plane acting as a heat sink makes sense but I was just wondering…
The solder has flux in it already, the solder pen is optional. i use the pen on some of the smaller conections i want to heat fast and not burn the board and still make a nice connection , but still optional.
cool
Hey…slow down on that snow, somebody is going to get killed.
