Is there a way to take a picture a mile or 2 beneath the surface of the
earth? Like to see if there are caverns underground?

What do the more technical ham radio operators do when there isn’t any
chasing weather? Oh, there is plenty. Here is an example of amateur radio
innovation. Receiving satellite imagery in real-time right from the
satellite itself. The more you dig into ham radio, the more you find
possible. How to take NOAA satellite pictures using RTL-SDR for under 50$

Hi! First question: Yes! Second question: You can tell that you are tuned
by watching waterfall spectrum on SDR, when you get near with tuning, you
will get higher and higher amplitude on your spectrum, you will see that
noise will be higher and your signal too! You need to be little careful
because variable trimming caps are small and while you turn it around about
5°, you will sweep about 2 MHz on spectrum, so do it slowly and watch
spectrum! I hope that you understand what I just said 🙂

Hi ! Superbe video ! thanks for the sharing ! I’ve got two noobs questions
regarding the preamp: – “tapped at the first turn from ground lead side”
means you unwrapped a bit the wire after a turn and solder the C2 cap here
? – “turn trimmers to tune to desired frequency” How do you know your in
the right frenquency? Can you tell how you tuned it ? Thanks ! Anthony

No, I said, that it would be good to make filter, so the airport cannot
interfere with NOAA signal, LC Filter was on my mind.

Hi Mustafa! I tried that first, but I get fuzzy picture that is not
synchronized well, it seems that my computer deforms signal in some way,
than I tried directly, and I get a lot better picture! 🙂

ICE filter 402x. It is rated for 100 watts and can be used with a
transceiver. They have one for receive only at less cost. I’ll put the link
    in my video comments.

How do you protect the Ham It Up (HIU) unit from overload when you transmit
on your HF transceiver? Do you have to disconnect the antenna from the HIU
unit? I have a kenwood TS590 100 watt transceiver and wish to use the SDR
to find activity on the HF bands and then us the 590 to transmit.
