1. Congrats on the new callsign!
2. Love the antenna . . . added to favorites.
3. I am officially jealous: beautiful Florida weather and an awesome antenna farm!
– Thanks for the QSO today . . . very cool catching up with you. JohnRob, now there is another cool HAM I follow closely. Looks like great minds think a like!
Thanks – It is a copy of the S9 design, just made it with stuff I already had lying around the shack. I have made MANY contacts with it and its much more quiet then then dipole.. Enjoy your channel, very refreshing..
I have a Alpha Delta DX-CC, I have noticed that on some days the VERT will receive 2-3 S units better then the Dipole… But saying that, there are days that the Dipole will receive better… I’ll see what I can do over the next few days..
But like I said – its my version of the S9/Eagle one offerings, to be honest when it comes to price it would have been less expensive to buy on of the two other offering but I had the parts, was bored so I gave it a try..
I hear better on 12, 15 and 40 Meters with the vertical them the Dipole……. However that being said, I am finding that even though the S level maybe a bit lower, the voices are much louder.. This antenna stuff is new to me and this was my first attempt.
I have the S9v 18 footer and it looks like yours. I also find that this type of vertical is quieter and receives better than my previous home made dipole. I also love their simplicity. What type of wire did you get for the radials (awg) and where did you get the wire (Home Depot, Radio Shack?). Hope to work you soon.
I used PVC coated 14AWG from Home Depot, I soldered ring connectors on the on bound ends and use the open ended ones for the plate side. By doing that it makes is easy to replace radials if need be.. 73
@kj4feq, Thanks Mike

I am totally impressed

I am so impressed with your idea and wormenship, do you have a beam or dipole to compare it with?

I would be interested in the dipole vs. vertical comparison. Do you find there is a low angle of radiation and you hear more DX on the vertical?

I am NOT new and would be pleased as could be if I ever did what you did

try a 9:1 balun/unun,,.real multiband antenna then and may be lower noise.
