No I have very good neighbours, been here for about 13 years and I was here
first so nah, they are used to my antennas and my hobby.. Nah we all get in
well in my neighbourhood no probs at all.. James G0SEC
Hard to answer that question, you just have to find out what you yourself
like in radios, I have been licensed a long time, 27 years now but I would
go for maybe a new icom id51 or a nice dualband handie or mobile as a first
and get used to chatting on vhf and uhf first and then go for a good HF
radio, most important thing is the antenna of course. James G0SEC
Hi James, the new radio looks brilliant and the new look shack, well done
James, may speak one day, thanks for the email. 73 de G7UFI Barrie
The shack desk is custom made by myself and is made from real wood which
has a nice high quality polish. I get asked alot about the shack desk, it
took a long time to do but got there in the end and everything is where I
wanted everything. James G0SEC
What’s the Log name as you still use?
I just received my Technicians class eariler this year and will be taking
the General class in a few weeks, and am start to look at what others in
this cool hobby have and I must say very impressive and I enjoyed the
video. Very nice set up, thanks for sharing your shack. — Mark KK4HUK
can you buy me one! 10 grand very nice. like yr shack.
Wow ! Beautiful shack and nice vids ! 73’s
well in my opinion you want a tower no less then 18m or 60 to 65ft min,
even higher if you want to escape the house noise and thermostat noises
around the buildings. My new tower will put the main HF beam up at about
68ft when fully extended but most of the time I just wind it up to about
1/2 to 3/4 the way up. safety is the main thing, the higher you go and the
bigger the tower the bigger the foundations have to be. Only get good
winches such as Fultons etc.
Just a small one. Between 6 and 10 meters. Possible ‘elf and safety
concerns might stop things being mounted on my roof…
Great Video and nice shack.Hope to have a QSO with you some time. 73 Chris

Thanks James i’m just buying my Audio Gear, got some info on how to connect
everything up but would like to see how you have done yours. no one else
has done a Vid like that because I’ve looked, only a picture on the lay
out. More posters should explain how there equipment is setup as it would
help viewers see whats involved if they won’t to do it. thanks again James
and the New radio looks Really Sweet. 73’s Rob
Newbi here. Can I ask a question, what do you think of the Yaesu ftd 9000?
Is Kenwood better?
Hi, well depends what kind of tower you install and if it is new or second
hand. I am in the process of installing a new tower at mo, hoping to get it
all done over the next couple of months.. The tower is being collected soon
as it is off to be galvanized so should last a lifetime. not cheap but will
be well worth the effort when its all installed around May or June 2012.
Hi Just curious about the tower. Looking at getting one possibly and I’m
curious about how much it all costs and such. Good shack though. Stuff of
dreams.. 73s M6RKE
Hi, yea this is an older video now but just so happened that my friend Tony
IZ6BXV was on the frequency at the time I done this video so called him for
a quick QSO, TCheck out some of my new videos and your see my new tower
installation, I upgraded the tower to a new Altron 4 section 80ft and makes
my old tower look small. Thanks for the comments..James G0SEC
That’s quite an exceptional radio room you have there, James. I do have a
question, though. Regarding the cabinet in which you have it all housed,
did you have it custom made or did you just happen to come a across one
that suited your needs? It looks custom made for your equipment, which
looks so much nicer and refined compared to some Hams that simply have a
pile of equipment stacked on top of each other. 73s and best regards.
Nice shack! I am planning on getting my ham license soon. I found your use
of the phonetic alphabet interesting. I have the standard NATO alphabet
memorized. So I am used to G = Golf and S = Sierra. Ultimately though it
doesn’t matter what words you use as long as they are ineligible.
James. Great vid. Can you detail how all of your components are connected?
Keep the vids coming. Bob-Texas
I’ve just shown my wife this video…….NO CHANCE !! You’re NOT having
that in our garden, don’t know why….there’s Mobile masts across the road
with alot more “I said” Typical wifes responce I guess…
Well all I can say is, wow, just wow. Your shack is beautifully laid out.
And it’s obvious you’ve dedicated a lot of time (and money) to your hobby.
I’m looking forward to doing the same. Again, congrats on a marvelous
setup. No doubt fellow Hams are looking at this and drooling. 🙂 You can be
sure I am!!!
this by far is a dream station. you seem to have everything you need, Great
video.. 73s ai1i
just uploaded new video on my audio gear for you.
You have a great station!!
Hi james did not mean to be rude.i recently got my licence and the
instructor
said not to use anything but the phonetic code.
kind regards alan M6RFO ps great shack
