I second the online tests. That’s what I did. I just took practice tests over and over. You can also find the question pool with the answers. The ARRL has a link to it on their website. If you google “ham radio license question pool”, look at the first link.

Hey Dave, what do you think about dropping the bag into a large steel ammo can to resist EMP’s and give the kit extra protection in the event of a tense situation?

so I picked up the EOD back, I liked your setup and I’d been wanting to get the EOD bag, but haven’t had a use until you got me interested in get a HAM license and getting involved with my local CERT in Spokane (still studying though). I was curious how that bag is holding up for you? I love countycomm, but mine showed up one of the PALS straps lost it’s “snap” connector. I sent Mike an email this evening… but I was curious going forward if yours is holding well?

My bag is holding up great . . . I use it quite heavily and I have had no problems. Mike and the CountyComm crew are stand up guys and will do the right thing for you. I have placed many orders with CountyComm without any problems. I am a huge CountyComm fan. I will bet you just have a defective bag that they will replace. 73!

Good video but I would add a coach’s whistle just in case the batteries went dead, a LED flashlight to see in the dark, a pocket knife, and a box of waterproof matches.

    Not a Bad Set up..
I Prefer Icom (Yaesu is good as well though)..

    Regarding the batteries…
I keep far more then that on hand…3 extra batteries.. Plus a Rechargable 6000 mah portable re chargeable via AC/DC…

I hope your scanner is a Digital 25 unit..
I Really like the tubes you use to hold the many extra High Gain aftermarket HT antennas..

In recent Hurricane Sandy..with power/gas stations out for 10-18 days.. My HT’s had plenty of left over power (including to use for my cel phone )

Thank you for your community service with CERT. The Beofeng UV-5R+ is a 2 m / 70 cm DTMF CTCSS DCS capable radio that would serve well as both a primary and back-up radio for any ham working in CERT or emergency radio service. They are full featured radios with a great price point. I have yet to use one but hope to in the future. The only complaint I have heard is they can be hard to program and the manual is poorly written. 73!
