About 8 miles away….but they are always listed as “off” when I log onto Echolink. None of the others are on Echolink. It would seem that Echolink has not been embraced out here in the woods as of yet.

Than you……I was just in QSO with John (W9ROL) discussing thae same thing. LOL I guess here in the woods Echolink is slow to catch on. There is one on Echolink….but it is rarely “on”. We need to change that. -73-

This one is a dual band (2 meter/70 cm) antenna. you can buy or build single band versions and they will cover other bands as well, including 6 meter and 50 mhz. I even found a J-pole calculator that gives you the proper dimensions of the elements when you input the frequency you will be operating on. Interesting stuff. I think I am going to try home-brewing a flexible wire j-pole using 50 ohm twin lead……this would be great for camping or hiking as you can easily get it in a tree.

Hey I use the that antenna also and I hit repeaters 50 to 60 miles away with the ft-60r. You can also make a dipole and get very good results with that radio. Good job on the video. Thanks Mike KD0MUZ

Great video. I’d like to find a taller aftermarket antenna for my old ICOM IC-M1 marine handheld. Any ideas where I could pick one up?
