Got my FT-450 setup for Digital modes with a Donner’s interface. it all seems to be hooked up normally.. PPT The radio.. send the audio.. but I dont show up anywhere on the reception map.. and no one returns the CQ’s.. Stumped!

This video show how handy it is to work PSK-31 on an iphone/ipod using RDP remote control. This is using an RDP program on the iphone to remotely control the computer in the shack which is running Ham Radio Deluxe 5. In my case the shack is in a building not connected to the house, so this is a really handy way to work digital modes such as PSK or RTTY anywhere in the house via wifi to the shack laptop. The combination of pskreporter displaying perfectly on the iphone browser, and using hrd remotely makes PSK easy to work from any chair in the house. The RDP client I used for the iphone is called Jaadu RDP, but there are others available.

I will have to try this, RDP client works fine on iPhone and iPad but never tried this permutation…

Sure did. no one came back able to copy me.
I figured it out last night.. well didnt actually figure it out.. I switched from my Vista desktop to an older XP desktop and for whatever reason, I was able to be heard again. I figure its probably some silly setting in the sound card within the vista machine. Eventually ill troubleshoot it for sake of finding out what was wrong.

Ive pretty much concluded that the Soundcard in my Vista Machine is just not upto par for Digital modes. Maybe a USB interface with a soundcard is in the future.. well see.
I use a Signalink USB with my FT-817ND and sometimes even run it with the FT-950, not a bad little setup. I Like your setup, 73 from Syracuse KC2PLJ
Andrew, you will need the ALC turned up….but not all the way of course, you should always have some level of audio coming out without overloading and creating a “dirty” signal. It took me a couple of shots before I made my first PSK31 qso, Once you have this down try some RTTY and Feld Hell (Very fun modes). Mike KC2PLJ
1 – wire your sound card direct to Data Jack in It’s SIMPLE It’s just standard aud, with your rig set to USB mode. same as U been doing with the mic & speaker.
OR buy a RJ45, crimp the aud to Mic Conector in 2 – Make sure your power out is ok with a signal out 3 – Make sure your computer volume is NOT all the way up. Should only be about 1/3 way up 4 – Make sure you have ALC at 3 bars 5 – Make sure your compressor is OFF 6 – Turn TX EQ OFF 7 – Put the rig on VOX, as usual

Issue Resolved.
I had my sound output too low, a little ALC never hurt anyone =-)
After giving up for a while I revisited the issue, and sure enough I got it all working no problem.
I Did back down my power to about 35 watts and tune from there with sound.
I was running 100 watts and bringing my sound down to make my watts out around 35 that was my mistake.
once I raised the sound and lowered the power it found its happy place and worked great.
Whatever the power output, the ALC, if it’s moving at all, should be no more than ‘twittering’. You see some horrendous IMD from some stations, one station I won’t name on 17m the other day had sidebands spreading over half the 3khz audio band. It’s really important to keep that sig clean, and it doesn’t take much too distort it.
