learn the rules and regulations and memorize the math formulas for the
class license you are taking, you can use a calculator that has the
formulas, study the easy parts that deal with memorization like frequencies
and you will pass. also if you fail , before you leave. write down all the
questions you can remember that you did not know the answer to. study them
and go back as soon as possible and take it again. gd luck

Here is another easy way: 1. Download and print the test questions with
answers from arrl.org. 2. Circle only the correct answers 3. Read questions
and only correct answers. 4. Cross out the question when you find the
answer pops into your head automatically. 5. Study only questions still not
mastered, until ready. 6. Relax and take your test. 7. Learn to use your
equipment effectively. Although this method works quite well, I would
suggest reading a licensing manual at least once.

The fee for one sitting at the test is $14 and is good for the day or until
you fail an exam. You may have to pay to retake if you fail. You never have
to be a club member. You can purchase a Baofeng Dual-Band HT for about $50
from eBay or Amazon, which any class Ham can use. It isn’t the best radio,
but its cheap and can get you started talking with a new radio quickly.
Some places may discount the fee, but none should charge more than $14.

[shameless plug] For a slightly more convenient online tool for flashcards,
take a look at hamstudy.org as well. It has not only flashcards for
quizing, but easily read ones for just reading through as well. We also
have user-contributed explanations for the questions.[end shameless plug]
Seriously, though, everyone studies a little bit differently; I work
closely with several ham radio classes and have tried to gear hamstudy
based on that, but find something that works well for you!

Are these questions on this site the exact questions for the 3 different
exams? And also what is the fee to take the exam? Finally, do I have to
join a local HAM club to take the test? I am trying to figure out how much
money I have to shell out JUST for the 3 tests. Please advise. Thanks

So when you need to calculate the formula for making an antenna or
measuring your power, you will have flash cards for that too?? This way may
get you your license, but it wont teach you the fundamentals. There is
merit in studying the materials still, just not sure learning by rote is
the right way. Just my opinion. 73 de MM0SGQ
