We’re going to guess that most D-STAR users only use voice. Low speed data is part of every transmission, but it requires a computer (or maybe a smart phone)…

I have been using D-RATS now for about 2 weeks and it is a great way to send Email and transfer files. You need to get into using D-RATS especially if you are into EMCOMM. Thanks to Patrick N3TSZ for all of his help. There is also a great Yahoogroup for D-RATS if you need help getting your radio setup, but it is not that difficult. Thanks to Gary as well !! This is truely a great DSTAR feature that is being missed by many. Order the appropriate cable for your radio now! (If you do not have it!)
Cool. An ICOM ID-1 internet connection from an airplane to a D-Star repeater! That’s mobile for sure. A glimpse into the digital future for amateur radio? — filling in some of the long distance wireless gaps that commercial products don’t fill.
