I swear to you Do, when i have the money to get a radio, I am there!! Even if it is a Wouxan!! Times are pretty tough right now with my ACL being blown, a huge meniscus tear, a deep bone bruise to the head of my femur. The ability to not be able to work right now and be on workers comp (which I am embarrased be) stinks. I am saving for one of those Wouxan 170 buck radios to get started with. If you know anyone that has a used base or handheld let me know. Need someway to pass time healing!
Meant Doc not Do! I am so wanting to make a QSO (think that is what it is called). i would love to show my daughters about HAM. Can you still talk to the ISS or was Col Wheelock the only guy doing that? Astrowheels, too cool!!!
@1TacticalMedic – I have seen some great used radios for a very good price on the internet. One can for sure get on the air for less than $100 . . . just saw a HAM on the local CERT net with a used Wouxan for sale for $60. Not sure if it is still available. Shoot me a PM with an email address and I will forward the link.
@1TacticalMedic – I would love to talk to ISS . . . I believe most of their HAM time is being spent for scheduled school contacts. Personally, I think NASA is missing out on a great PR opportunity with the unscheduled HAM contacts . . . great people and tech interest stories would abound. I look forward to working you in the future . . . will be a great QSO 😉
Neat video! Doc, did you see my latest video I did where I received my IFAK and go through my AMP-3 inventory? 🙂
Well the HAM stuff was cool but I almost cried when I saw those protein packets walking by unmolested. I could almost taste that chicken fried backstrap covered in gravy …
Koolness! I always enjoy your HAM videos. Thanks for posting.
Great communication time. Merry Christmas USNERDOC. We have snow here in southern az, at least in the sky islands.
It’s amazing what you can do on 10 meters when the band opens up. I was impressed how far I was able to get with my cheaply made dipole duct taped to my wall. That Buddistick seems like a nice antenna. I need to look into getting one.
Ok, so the deer and the iced over water feature totally had me at hello. LOL. Great contacts David and Merry Christmas!

KF7ETX David: lovely video, as always! Thanks for all the good times you bring with your videos in 2011. Happy holidays and great 2012! 73, PU3HAG Huelbe.
