Well, due to family commitments, I was not able to follow up with last years success with Field Day, however, I did manage to squeeze in a few Qs and give away some points. What you see here is my Icom IC-703+, the matching AH-703 (4 foot) whip antenna, which is connect to the back of the 703 using a 90 degree PL to SO-239 adaptor. You will also notice that I have 2 lengths of 15 foot long wires attached to the ground nut on the rig which are being used as a counter poise. The location was the main floor living room of my home. I was also using battery power with an average RF output of about 7 WATTS… Can you believe that I made contacts fairly easily with this set up IN DOORS? Anyway, thank you for your continued interest and I look forward to chatting with you soon! for more information please see the detail at www.PortableQRP.com www.portableqrp.com 73 Bob VE3UK
Nice setup Bob. Fine business.
Those QSOs are amazing!! Inside using a whip antenna and 10W!
Hi Bob my first HF radio was the 703 had alot of trouble with the output power it would just go from doing 10w to nothing I would have it to the shop it would come back ok for a couple of days then the same again. I lost faith in it after that although the sound that came out of the internal speaker was exceptional compared to some I have heard. Mine was one of the early models in 2004 so I presume Icom will have resolved the problems with it now. Love your video, Regards Dave 2E0IJK
Incredible. Have you gone down to 1 watt on cw?
great well done !! have you used internal tuner to tune in whats internal atu like thanks.
Great video! Thanks for posting it.
nice video, good video editing work
Thanks for posting this nice video indoors using ICOM 703+ and AH-703 antenna.I wish ICOM would drop the price down on the AH-703 a bit and make it more affordable.I love my 703+ and use it regularly to work stateside and DX QSO’s.Nice job indoors QRP and battery power.73..Dennis W7KB.
awesomeness! I have the same radio, IC-703+. I got the AH-4 auto-tuner and built the whole thing into a pelican case with a battery and mounted a 15W solar panel on the lid to power it. Today I dangled a 30ft 24 gauge wire from the balcony of my 3rd story apartment. My counterpoise was another 30 feet of wire strung around the appartment. I’ve been making contacts all night on 40 & 80 meters. Usually I use this setup portable outdoors though, but it runs good anywhere it seems. I love this radio
