Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video! 80 meters is still probably a challenge, but 40 meters or less is very doable. I’m intrigued also by your use of 10 meters and the success you said you’ve had. That’s awesome! If I were to go the route you did on the vertical and cut resonant for 20 meters, does that same 32+ foot length apply to dipoles as well? If so, that would be an ideal option for me. I’m curious….what are you using for a tuner?
@dacrocker There is ton’s of options. My dipole is a half wave dipole tuned for 75m. But on 40m it’s a full wave. Yes the 32ft on 20m will work. A full wave on 20m calculates to 65.6842ft or 32.8421ft per side. (a vertical antenna is basically a dipole with half of it vertical and the other half horizontal on the ground.) If you want a half wave then it would be a total of 32.8421ft or 16.42105ft per side. 1/4 wave 1/2 of that etc… 10m is 28Mhz and CB band is 27Mhz not much difference.
@dacrocker For 10m 32ft is roughly a full wave, 16ft is a half wave, and 8ft is a quarter wave. The two 4ft CB antennas set up as a vertical dipole makes it 8ft or a quarter wave. It worked good for a while, but when I put up the 32ft vertical it worked better on 10m than the CB antennas did. Lots of people use old CB antennas re-purposed for 10m. The Antron 99 is one of the more popular ones that people use.
