Contacting Finnish station, Pekka OH1O, from Vancouver, WA, on 30 Meters CW using a barefoot Yaesu FT-857D at 100 Watts, to a small Yaesu ATAS 120 mobile screwdriver antenna mounted on my car trunk. I used the 60Hz AF DSP filter to make the receive clearer. Signal report 569 both ways. Contact was made at about 1PM Pacific Time on January 10, 2010.

Sorry to bother you, do you find the ATAS tunes up Ok on a mag mount? Looking to do something similiar.

Yes but make sure you get a good earth. The mag in the video was a temporay as I did not have much notice, the original mag has 3 magnets in a triangle configuration and tunes perfect from 40 meters all the way to 70cms. Let me know how you get on with yours. Regards Dave
Cool, was not thinking of using it whilst driving, just when parked up somewhere. Where did you pick your earth up from on the antenna and then where did you connect it on the car?? I think the 3 mags ina triangle would give me more of a point to connect an earth to. Roll on summer, time to play!
