    modified CB on a frequency far from the regular 40. In RWOL don’t think the

    I completely agree about the FCC. Regarding 11 meters compared to VHF. That
    is more complicated and a common misconception, which is dependant on
    environmental variables, like trees, buildings, over water, in mountainous
    area, antenna choice, antenna efficiency, … 11 meters is less predictable
    than lower HF bands with the random nature of atmospheric conditions. On FM
    as you mentioned, using the typical 5 watt CB radio, with vertical antenna,
    mounted 10 meters over ground, in an urban environment, one might expect
    horizon to horizon on a “typical” day. Switch to SSB and you could be
    ragchewing at x50 beyond the horizon, you just never know! Also remember
    that it’s much easier to build a smaller yet extremely high gain antenna
    for VHF where an antenna for 11 meters with equal gain would be so big,
    that it would be impossible to use in the tactical environment mentioned in
    the original example of that first video. One reason the military uses VHF,
    UHF, SHF for tactical comms is the small size compared to high gain of
    antenna on those frequencies 🙂
