“MT63 is a digital radio modulation mode for transmission in high-noise situations developed by Pawel Jalocha SP9VRC. MT63 is designed for keyboard-to-keyboard conversation modes, on HF HAM bands. MT63 distributes the encoding of each character over a long time period, and over several tones. This implementation is key to its robustness under less than ideal conditions.” Source: Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org Software Options for MT-63 Fldigi 3.20.28 Digital modem program for Linux, Free-BSD, OS X, Windows XP, W2K, and Vista. www.w1hkj.com HAM Radio Deluxe www.ham-radio-deluxe.com MultiPSK 4.18.1 f6cte.free.fr Navy MARS – MT63 Information www.navymars.org

I just happened to be running digital on a MARS net tonight and easily decoded the Youtube audio. I used Digital Master 780 to decode your message:

“Test message from KF7ETX – David
    11OCT1Ø 2ØØØ LOCAL – 12OCT1Ø Ø3ØØ UTC
Beaverton CERT Net – Part 2 Digital Exercise Night
I am running FiDigi on my MacBook PRO.
    Looks like everything is working!
Check out my HAM radio videos on YouTube.

I guess if you can send text messages, it is highly likey you also send computer programs which are basically text, data, and even images and pictures, I’d like to see that and I have seen the common “photo to ascii/colored text” programs on the internet. I guess this system uses very narrow bandwith as they say like morse code, and low power can be used to travel great distances.

Very interesting. I am curios can you encode the messages to where only you and another sender can transmit them for “private talk”? Either way, thanks for sharing. Have a great day/ night.

Sweet! I’ve been looking around at all the different stuff you can do with Ham radio, and there’s definitely a lot you can do. Can’t wait to hopefully get my license soon!

Nice job, David. Take a look at the FLWRAP (checksum coded messages that allow receiving stations to confirm 100%) and FLMSG (form-based messaging, NTS/Radiogram, ICS-213, etc.). look me up on qrz.com for some good instructional sites! 73 de KB3FXI

I have never touched HAM radio in my life and this was extremely interesting, I may have to get involved with this.
