@phookyagain I tried doing the experiment again, with the heaters off, and
the problem still happened, However, I found that the problem would
completely dissapear if my other hand was in contact with a ground on the
MakerBot (such as the SD card cover)

@ZInventions Well, so much for that hypothesis. Are you sure the ground
you’re plugging into is good? (Are your touchscreen and bot on the same
    ground?)

i was wondering about this issue my self, i do hope to build a nice metal
case for all my electronics when i am all done, but i do wonder where it is
mostly emitted from, i would think the stepper controlers my self that is
where most of your high power fast switching is going on.

@canuckscottsmen Oddly, the steppers were off when I shot the video, and I
thought they would be the biggest contributors, However, the EMI
interference isn’t quite as bad if the heaters are off, so that’s
definitely part of it, as well as the PSU itself, which I think is the main
contributor to the EMI. This raises a question, Why doesn’t that affect
tower computers? is it just the Capacitative screen that is sensitive
    enough?

@ZInventions my next guess would be the atmel processor itself, your idea
with the metal cage is a good one from what i know its not a bunch you may
need a finer mesh than what i saw in your video that would be a good way to
make a faraday cage, but you need to have it grounded. i would also check
your grounding too on your power outlet

@ZInventions most desktops are in a metal cage, so it would work something
like a faraday cage not a perfect one but it would cut down on almost all
noise. i know of a few computers that will make radios get allot of static
in them when they are close to a computer.

Thanks for documenting this. The heaters can pump a few amps @ 12V through
completely unshielded wire. I’d love if you could turn off the heated build
platform and see if you still get the interference. I’m more suspicious of
the current HBP design than any other part of the system.
