    I am pretty sure that the audio distortion is due to low signal or just bad
    signal to noise ratio. Thats what I get on my consumer dab radio when the
    antenna is not fully extended. A better antenna should help sort that out
    and help you get more stations

    You could try coaxial stub filters for those frequencies. They are
    extremely simple to make (requires T splitter and half wave tuned piece of
    coax) and filter very good.

    Hi yes, the TV antenna only gives me slightly better reception though. The
    better reception fixes the RNZ Concert station, but not the BBC world
    station. So I think you are right about it being a signal strength issue.

    You are welcome. You probably already do this but I noticed a massive
    improvement when I added a 10m usb extension lead and got the dongle away
    well from the pc. The other thing I did was cut a few wire dipoles, for
    frequencies of interest, and connected them all together with a “chocolate
    block” electrical connector. I this gave me great s/n ratio but now I have
    overload problems from pager signals and the local airport. Anyway your vhf
    antenna on the roof should make a big difference.

    Thanks for that. Living on the edge of London and 1 mile from the airport
    is a double edge sword, On one hand there are lots of things to listen to
    but on the other there are lots of strong signals to overload the radio. I
    will give the stub filter a go on the strongest signals. I have a feeling
    that what I really need is a very good tuneable band pass filter Cheers
