All police Communications are via Airwave which cannot be eavesdropped. Fire and Ambulance are following. The coastguard emergency channel zero can be listened to. (156.000mhz).

Hi, Yes, I have tried both the Diamond and the Maldol Quadbander antenna…both were ok but not brilliant. A lot of money for an aerial that trys to do cover too many bands. You will be better off using a triplexer/duplexer and having a 2/70 and either 6 or 10mtr antennas that work well. Thats only my opinion though:-) Pays Ya Money..Takes Ya Choice. Regards. Ian.

Loving the set up, very very nice! Can you tell me what make the duplexer is and where you purchased it. I’m wanting to use one on 2m/70cms with my Icom 2820
What make aerials are you using for the 2m band and the 70cms? You seem to know your stuff so any advice much appreciated.
    Cheers matey 🙂

Hi, I use the 5/8 wave on 2 mtrs, this also tunes as a 1/4 wave on 6 Mtrs. For uhf I use a pmr 1/4 wave which works really well. The duplexer is nothing special. Bought from Coastal Communications in Clacton for £15.00. Cheers. Ian

Hi, Yes the FT857 has VHF and UHF but its only single band. I prefer to keep my UHF/VHF operations seperate. That way I came monitor the local stuff on the 8900 and then use the 857 to listen about the HF and CB channels. Thanks for looking. Ian.
