Many have used a painter’s pole for a mast support for a dipole antenna. Here’s is an idea that I use to support the mast using a steel green fence post. AI4QT

Actually the depth is only maybe 8″ or so at the most…. of course, it does help that the soil isn’t too wet, otherwise you would need to guy it. 73

I pound in a steel T fence post, as heavy as I am there is no steeping the in the ground. 🙂 Then I slide fiberglass, PVC or metal pipe over the post. Up to 20 feet with no guying need if the post is pounded into the depth of the blade welded on the post. I have an idea as to how to used the post as the base for up to a 30 foot tilt up mast. Though guying may be needed depending what’s put at the top. Thanks for posting.

A comment on your air balun, it will work better if you wind it around a 4″ piece of pvc pipe. RF travels back up the outside of the shielding and if the first and last coil are touching it shortens out the whole thing.
