You might have downloaded the wrong SDR# version. On the download page you
need to download the installation script under the bold heading “Important
    note for RTL-SDR users”.

Superphish, you seem to be real knowledgeable and smart on radios and the
RTL based SDRs. I have a newsky RTL with the e4000 tuner chip. the upper
range is suppose to be 1700mhz. I am able to receive NFM traffic at 5.2GHZ.
any ideas why this is possible? or maybe the software is lying to me?

It’s great isn’t it 🙂 Remember that 2.8msps bandwidth is the maximum you
can use without getting samples dropped. At 3.2msps the quality won’t be as
    good.

I’m not totally sure why, but i’d definitely say those signals are not
really broadcast at 5.2GHZ. If you search around the lower frequencies
you’ll probably find the same signals. I would guess that it’s because the
RTL is simply “wrapping around” and showing 5.2Ghz as something like
800Mhz. Really, i’m not that knowledgeable on radios etc, all I know is
from playing around with the RTL 🙂 The guys on the reddit or google groups
forum might have a better technical answer for you.

roger that, i was kind of thinking along the same lines, but since i really
don’t understand how these RTL chips or the software that runs them works i
was unsure. Thanx for the response
