    think? I work at the old factory where they were made at, it is owned by
    Bosch now. The US government outlawed metal antennas for CB band in 1984.
    Hygain stopped making the Silver Rod, CLR-2, and the Penetrator when they
    were outlawed.

    Hi Chris, how has it lasted? Looking to get one for my new homebase, I’m
    located in a winding area and dont want to replace an antenna every year,
    so looking for a rubust build. Any advice mate.

    These are really good twigs, the only issue is the ground plane it doesn’t
    do a great deal, I scrapped a more than useless Sirio 5/8th wave but I kept
    the matched (3×1.5M radials) ground plane and put it on the Silver Rod, its
    been up a couple of weeks and it has a bloody great SWR across the bands
    even with several hundred Watts up its chuffer I’m well impressed it gets
    out well can highly recommend them,
