hamradiofinds.com Hello..This is Mel WA5UTK..I have had several request to do a video on my Cubex 4-Element ham radio quad antenna..The boom is 30Ft long & the antenna is roughly 25Ft above ground..I have 4 bands on it 10, 15, 17 & 20..The 15mtr loops are open due to interaction with 17..Normally when I am on the air, you will hear me on 17..I like that band the best due to no contests & no nets..Hope you enjoyed the video..Now that the bands are coming back, I will probably get a little more active..73s, Mel

Demonstration of the new Barrett Communications 2050 Wireless HF Transceiver Handset and 2019 Mobile Autotune Antenna System

This video shows how easy is is to set up an end-fed HF antenna and a fiberglass pole, even in non-ideal weather. Sorry for the water on the lens; there was a lot of wet snow coming down on this day.

You can see on this video my new created device after four years work in designing several remote control systems to tune the variable capacitor of a Small Magnetic Loop Antenna. The antenna can be carried on my back, with a light and simple Back Support described on my web page, or I can temporarily fix the antenna on a balcony or window adjusting the antenna”s resonating frequency from a distant place.

This is both part 1 & 2 of explaining how I constructed my Ham Radio “To Go” box en ligne casino france so KEEP WATCHING AFTER it says THE END. For Portable use both in house and if needed emergency, field day, etc. I plan to use the anderson strip to power my Elecraft KX3 when it arrives to! Will attached KX3 with a bit of velcro or once I get KX3 will see if another way. I have room over my 857 or will change 2 meter mobile to a smaller one(I have a FT-1500 which is smaller)

With HF antenna…

Testing a lightweight HF magnetic loop antenna made from 7 metres of RG58 coaxial cable. Contacts were made on 40 and 20 metres during the Lighthouse Weekend. It uses just three main parts: the coax itself, an air-spaced variable capacitor (approx 50 – 100pF max) and a T50-43 ferrite toroid. The toroid is threaded over the coaxial cable. RF from the transceiver is fed via a 2 or 3 turn winding over the toroid (experiment with this for lowest SWR). The coax inner is left unconnected; only the braid is used here. The loop is for low power use only – it will take 10 – 20 watts before the variable capacitor arcs over. Performance is, as expected, somewhere between a smaller pedestrian mobile magnetic loop and a full sized wire antenna. It would be improved if the variable capacitor was a low loss type and the coaxial cable was soldered straight to it. While there’s enough information above to make your own, it’s worth checking out G4FON’s website ( www.g4fon.net ) for similar loops. My loop is closest to his Version 2.

yaesu ft-817nd + homebrew fishing pole antenna, SWL-ing over the HF bands

Here’s my Chameleon V1 HF a few hours after I pulled it out of the box. It seems like a good antenna. Sturdy made. I’ve got 10 over signals from SC on 20M and 10 over signals on 80M from Minnesota.

Some of my friends were asking for pictures of my HF antenna and my ham shack so I decided to make a video of it since I haven’t uploaded anything to youtube in a while. The rig is a Kenwood TS-120S 100watt radio and the antenna is a full wave 40m loop configured for vertical polarization. UPDATE: Since this video has been posted I hooked up an external 4:1 voltage balun and now it works 80m – 10m no problem. Now to set something up for 160m, 6m, 2m, and maybe either 1.25m or 70cm. 🙂

As test antenna was measured at 22 foot linear using a piece of triple #22 AWG conductor zip cord commonly used for older home intercom by Nutone. The base feed was run 11 feet up on an outside conductor, then returns 11 feet down on the center conductor back to the base and is connected to the other outside conductor that is the full 22 feet long.

The 10-80P is an HF portable antenna system for use within the range of 3.5Mhz -30Mhz continuous! Will work with any HF transceiver, and can handle up to 250 watts PEP! Very simple to use! There is no need for “screw on” type taps like on other portable antennas, this one will tune up and down the band with ease! Also, this one covers 80 meters! Most other portable antennas out there do not. Just listen for the most background noise in your RX, then fine tune with your SWR meter or analyzer. This system is designed to fit any standard tripod with a 1/4 x 20 thread base. You can also use any standard mobile or portable type mount with the 3/8 x 24 thread hardware. Comes with brass whip sections (not flimsy telescopic whip), tripod bracket, counterpoise wire, tap ring and coil. www.pcssales.net

A demonstration of how a seperate receiving antenna can help HF radio reception, particularly in urbanised areas where noise is a problem. A large outdoor antenna is best for transmitting but for receiving a small loop can often pick up less noise and allow clearer reception. This is a demonstration of the difference an indoor loop antenna can make when listening to a ZL station in a contest on 160 metres.

The recent ice storm broke the HF antenna and today January 12, 2008 Larry, KD5MAF and myself reinstalled it.

As soon as we installed it, we turned on the HF radio and made contacts with South Carolina, St. Louis, Tacoma, California, Cuba, among others. I think the antenna is working perfectly. I received some good reports on the signal from many. I am very pleased that it tunes up great on 10, 12, 15, 17, 20, 40, 80 meter bands with ease. The top of the HF antenna where the pole comes off the left is 50 feet above the ground.
