This is a professional watch and it is important to note that it is not designed for leisure use. The built in micro transmitter broadcasts on the 121.5 MHz aircraft emergency frequency. If a pilot is to crash land an airplane, he is able to activate the micro transmitter which will alert search and rescue. The micro transmitter is activated by removing a cap on the watch which releases an antenna. The distress frequency has a range of approximately 100 miles and transmits on the frequency that is monitored by Cospas-Sarsat, an international search-and-rescue operation. The rescue signal will remain operational for 48 hours.
so if i get this watch and im lost and dying in the woods i cant use the emergency call? cuz theres one on ebay for $3000 and im thinkin about buying it, but not if i cant use it in an emergency. thats stupid
@regalgsme Getting lost because of poor planning is not the same as crashing an airplane. If you have $3000 to spend on a watch, buy a sat phone, some maps, and some survival training.
@justsnappy lol, im not saying i get lost but if i get injured and i cant use the watch, thats stupid cuz its an EMERGENCY! thats the name of the watch. even if your a pilot you cant use the watch cuz its for the military only. but i bought it anyway, i guess ill cross that road if i come to it lol.
The watch is not for the military only, I own one and have read all of the paperwork that came with it. If it’s activated and someone is monitoring 121.5 in your range, they’ll hear it.
i wonder… if you crash with the plane and you screw the watch? then you r screwed too !
