@fishin25530 Thank you kindly partner! I’ve actually moved my base to a new
shop that stands so tall that all I had to do was go out on the roof and
put my antenna on a pole. I do appreciate your time and help.

RedneckMike I sure hope you have a good concrete base foundation for that
antenna buried under the soil because I don’t see any way that antenna is
anchored down. At least get some guy wires if you don’t already have some.

You were told wrong about not using concrete. It doesn’t hold water if you
dig below the frost line, have plenty of gravel in the bottom for drainage,
keep the ends open in the gravel so that they can drain, and make sure the
top of the concrete can drain. These things really rust badly if buried in
    dirt.

That’s a small tower at only 50 feet. I have climbed a 300 foot radio
broadcast tower in 90 degree heat to change the aircraft warning lights.
Because the tower is the antenna for AM broadcast we took the power down to
10,000 watts and couldn’t use any safety lines. The top of the tower is
high current low voltage. The lowest tower I have worked on was 75 feet on
    top of a highrise.

@sparky42 idk the more matter the em wave interacts with the more distorted
it’s going to get. It’s not rocket science. There is a reason light doesn’t
travel forever if it’s not in a vacuum.

@macktasticjoshflava It looks like that because this was a used tower
someone cut down like a tree. When it hit the ground it twisted a little
bit. So yea, it will look a little askew, but the price on this tower was
    right.

@Andyterranbase1 Yeah maybe for skip.. No way your talking 400 miles ground
wave on a CB.. I can get maybe 70 miles on my 4 element beam with a little
under a 1000 watts. Probably farther if everyone wasnt a duck around here..

@BurningTirez youd be surprised what a highly directional antenna array
would give you for range, esp on a good clear day.

@blackjack911bumpbump That wouldn’t have worked out very well considering I
cut those trees down about a month later. The tower was pretty cheap. It
    was free.
