Impressive little portable transceiver! Alinco has come a log way over the
years and their current radio line-up is rather impressive. I certainly
wouldn’t mind owning this model and their newest model, the DJ-G29 dual
bander with 222 and 902 MHz. As a 33cm enthusiast, having a frequency agile
900 MHz portable would be VERY convenient! Like all other 900 MHz
enthusiasts, I use commercial radio gear but have to make sure I keep an
old laptop with the appropriate radio software, RIB and programming cable
in my trunk anywhere I go in the event I need to makes changes in my
travels. Having a DJ-G29 would completely eliminate the need to carry all
that extra equipment around with me, and it would be super nice to be able
to just pick up a 900 MHz portable radio and simply punch in the exact
frequency and features needed, and start TALKING then and there without the
need of other specialized equipment! I also LOVE the display on this model.
Indeed Alinco has made vast improvements over the years in the radio’s they
offer, and they have excellent quality at a good price :)

it is a link repeater systems, I dont really know how this works though, I
think someone has to have several repeaters going in a certain direction
like east to west then have them set up with the same freq. Once you talk
it will bounce from repeater to repeater. I got a friend out in CO and we
are trying to get something set up so that we can talk to each other on the
    radio’s

Joe im not sure but if i remember right that repeater will hit another
repeater and another and another and another it will keep on going if you
want it to if i remember right. Do some checkin into that if you would.

how can I say this and have it to make sense, it is basicly it is the
mother ship to a 2 meter ham radio. if you can hit the repaeter then the
repeater “mother ship” sends your transmition to a larger area the repater
is about 15 miles away from me but it sends my signal further and people
can hear me if they are on the repeater frequency

I now one way you could get that boafeng to hit the repeater with the
standard antenna get you 4 foot base ground plane antenna with some height
with a radio that will cross band repeat . Or just find a echo link from a
    closer tower near you.
